2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Overview

Americans love their trucks, and the Chevy Silverado 1500 continues as one of the country’s best-selling models. The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is available in nine trim levels. Four engines are on offer, including a 6.2-liter V8 that allows this truck to pull an incredible 13,300 pounds. There are a few notable changes for the 2023 model year. The Silverado 1500’s turbodiesel engine is now more powerful, with 28 more horses and 35 lb-ft more torque. It now generates a total of 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 gets high marks from the automotive media. Autoblog writes: “[The] Silverado offers terrific acceleration, responsive steering, and a comfortable ride no matter the variant. The base turbo-4 has plenty of power and torque for most needs, and it works well with the 8-speed automatic transmission. ... While not redesigned for 2022, the Silverado nonetheless offers enough changes to make it a must-shop for anyone seeking a big, capable, and high-tech pickup truck.”

Here’s what the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim level lineup looks like: Work Truck (WT), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2 and High Country.

Buyers can choose one of four engines. The base unit is a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out a hearty 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, teamed to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is standard for the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT and LT Trail Boss trim levels.

The RST, LTZ and High Country trims are motivated by a standard 5.3-liter V8 that generates 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is optional in the WT, Custom Trail Boss, LT, and LT Trail Boss.

The ZR2 trim is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management. This block develops 420 hp and 460 lb-ft and is connected to the 10-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is available in the RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country trims.

The Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country trim levels have an available 3.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that produces 305 hp and 495 lb-ft, matched to the 10-speed automatic.
