2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Overview
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a full-size truck that comes in many configurations at dealerships like the Spokane Valley Chevrolet dealer. This means you’re sure to find a Silverado 1500 that meets your individual needs, whether you’re looking for a capable work truck, a powerful tow truck, a pickup for everyday driving, or a brawny off-roader.
Speaking of off-roaders, if you’re looking to take your Silverado 1500 off the beaten path, you’ll want to pay particular attention to the new ZR2 trim level, which was specially designed to tackle the most challenging off-road trails. Also new for 2022 is a restyled interior that includes a 13.4-inch touchscreen in the LT and higher models. According to the Spokane Valley Chevy dealer, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a new optional Super Cruise feature that lets the vehicle drive autonomously on specially equipped North American roads.
The Silverado 1500’s revised styling includes lowered headlights and a redesigned grille. The standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine gets a substantial boost in torque from 348 lb-ft to 420 lb-ft. The Chevy Safety Assist system now has more advanced safety equipment.
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comes in nine trim levels: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2 and High Country. Buyers can choose one of four engines:
- Turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder unit developing 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission
- 5.3-liter V8 producing 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, coupled to a ten-speed automatic transmission
- 6.2-liter V8 engine generating 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, matched to a ten-speed automatic transmission
- 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine making 277 hp and 460 lb-ft, teamed to a 10-speed automatic transmission
The 6.2-liter V8 engine is the fastest of the lot. Car and Driver tested the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with this V8 and clocked a zero-to-60-mph time of 5.4 seconds, an excellent showing for a full-size pickup. Drivers who want to use their truck for towing will appreciate the Silverado 1500’s maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds. The available Technology Package includes a camera setup capable of displaying up to 15 different views.
The standard infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a Wi-Fi hot spot. The LT and higher trims get the new 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen mentioned earlier and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also standard is a Google-powered voice assistant. Drivers can press a button on the steering wheel or use the phrase “Hey Google” to send texts, set the climate control system, and change the audio source. Amazon Alexa integration is optional.
The Chevy Safety Assist package comes standard on all Silverado models. It includes Intellibeam high beam assist, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward collision alert, and a following distance indicator.
