For 2022, the Chevrolet Equinox gets a refresh. The Equinox’s revised styling includes a new grille design, restyled LED headlights, and new front and rear bumper styling. A new RS trim level joins the lineup. This sporty trim gets 19-inch Dark Android-painted wheels, LED headlights, a Gloss Black mesh grille, a restyled lower fascia, a Black Ice surround and unique black badging. Inside, the RS features Jet Black cloth seating with red stitching, Black Ice chrome accents, and a black headliner. The folks at the Spokane Valley Chevy dealer tell us the other trim levels also get updated interior styling.

The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox garners praise from the automotive media. Kelley Blue Book writes: “The 2022 Equinox is Chevrolet’s best-selling SUV and it’s a player in the 2-row/5-passenger compact crossover segment. It competes with a dozen other vehicles including the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Escape. The Chevy Equinox has always been a good contender, if not the best in class.”

The 2022 Chevy Equinox is offered in four trim levels: LS, LT, RS and Premier. All trims are equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft, linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can choose between standard front-wheel drive and the available all-wheel-drive system. Drivers now have the option of disabling the engine’s start-stop system with a push-button.

EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2022 Chevy Equinox with front-wheel drive is 26 mpg city/31 mpg highway.* All-wheel-drive models return 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway.

While the Equinox LS is the base trim, it still offers buyers a generous number of standard features. The LS includes 17-inch wheels, push-button start, keyless entry, LED headlights, a rearview camera, cloth seating and OnStar. The Equinox’s rear-seat alert system helps prevent drivers from leaving young children or pets in the rear seat. Teen Driver is also standard. This system allows owners to limit some of the vehicle’s characteristics when younger drivers are behind the wheel, such as the vehicle’s top speed and the stereo system’s volume.

The 2022 Equinox’s standard infotainment system includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio setup, satellite radio, a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot and USB ports.

The Chevy Safety Assist package is also standard. It comes with automatic high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning and pedestrian detection.
